Bridal Corsets
On their wedding day every woman wants to feel and look sensational, and what better way than to do that than by walking down the aisle in a beautiful corset (whether it be on show or just for your future husband!)
Corsets underneath your bridal gown
When you have spent thousands of pounds on the perfect dress, choosing the right underwear is very important. A corset will enhance the shape of your body, creating curves and that much desired hourglass figure. Even more importantly, they will also hide a multitude of sins!
There are certain things you will need to consider when choosing the corset to wear under your dress.
- It may be advisable to choose your bridal corset before your wedding dress so that the styles work together and the shapes complement each other.
- If you already have your dress, think about its style and ensure that the colour of the corset matches, especially if the fabric of your dress is sheer or lacy. If your dress has a very low neckline you should consider wearing a Waspie or under bust corset with a separate bra.
- Ensure that your corset is fitted properly to your body. If your corset is ill-fitting it will affect the look of your gown and will ruin the whole effect.
Remember, no-one needs to know you are wearing a corset unless you tell them!
Corset Wedding Dress
Some corsets are just too beautiful to hide and, by opting for a corset wedding dress, this will create a seamless, stunning look that will flatter any figure.
The one-piece corset dress is ideal for those lucky brides who are perfectly in proportion and can be fitted with a hidden zipper to enable easy dressing, whilst keeping the lace up back simply for effect. The one-piece may also be slightly cheaper to purchase, however, it can be harder to alter for a perfect fit.
For those brides out there who are a different dress size on the top than the bottom, a two piece corset dress is an ideal solution.
The two piece corset dress will also allow you to have two different corsets for your wedding day, one white or off-white for the traditional ceremony and the second a colour to match your colour scheme or even something more dramatic for the evening reception.
Other things to consider
Wear the corset before your big day. You will need to get used to the feel of it and allow the boning to shape to your body. This should take around a fortnight if you wear it for around an hour a day. It is important that it fits correctly as your dress will add more weight and the last thing you want is to be fidgeting and uncomfortable when you should be concentrating on enjoying this special occasion.
A big positive to bridal corsets is that you don’t have to worry if your weight fluctuates higher or lower during the days before your wedding, as the laces of your corset can be easily adjusted.
Remember to not eat too heavily through the day though; you don’t want to spend your wedding night feeling ill!
If you feel that you aren’t quite ready to wear a strapless corset wedding dress, spaghetti straps can be added to your corset by a seamstress for a small fee.
However you choose to wear your bridal corset, just enjoy feeling like a million dollars and the look on your new husband’s face!
